Writing Surface
A pad holds sheets along an edge for removal. Binding edge, sheet count and backing stiffness determine whether it works on a desk or in the hand. State whether the top sheet is a cover, a writing page or part of a form set. One-sided and two-sided printing need separate specifications.

Sheet Release
A glued pad releases at the bonded edge; perforation tears along a prepared line and may leave a stub. Their usable writing areas differ. Position tear lines and filing holes on the artwork drawing so removal does not cut through text. Backing board needs enough support for the chosen format and use.

Pad Inspection
Count sheets, verify print orientation and remove several leaves from different positions. The remainder should stay attached without glue spreading into the writing area. Inspect square trimming, backing and wrap-over covers. Approve bands or wrapping on the finished pad because tight packing can bend corners or mark the top sheet.

Manufacturing & Assembly
Inner-page artwork and pagination are approved before printing and collation. Cover conversion, binding and finishing follow the selected format.
Sheet count, print alignment, edge attachment and clean sheet removal.

Packaging & Protection
Support the backing board and protect the glued or perforated edge. Keep pads flat so the sheet corners remain aligned during handling.
Record the unit pack, pack quantity, carton dimensions and label positions. Check a packed sample with the intended contents before approving the shipment arrangement.

What to Check
Sheet count, print alignment, edge attachment and clean sheet removal.
Desk notes, meeting stationery and promotional paper programs.
Record the reference contents, inspection method and acceptance criteria with the approved sample.
Buyer Question
Are sheets and pages the same quantity?
No. Specify physical sheets and printing on one or both faces. An ambiguous page count can conceal a twofold difference in paper quantity.
