Custom Spiral & Wire-O Notebooks
Compare continuous spiral coil and twin-loop Wire-O notebooks by punch pitch, page travel and binding construction.

Specifications
Identify the binding edge and whether pages must be removable or remain intact.

Reference formats describe the contents, not a guaranteed manufacturing range. Finished dimensions, material grades and tolerances are agreed against your drawing and sample.
Coil and Wire
This combined page compares spiral and Wire-O bindings without creating competing pages. Spiral binding uses a continuous helical coil threaded through holes and secured at its ends. Wire-O uses paired wire loops closed through a matching punch pattern. Their appearance, end treatment and closing operations differ, even when both allow covers to fold back.

Binding Pitch
Pitch describes hole frequency. Twin-loop systems commonly use 3:1 or 2:1 pitch, meaning three or two holes per inch. The punch must match the selected wire. Choose binding clearance from actual block thickness, including covers and dividers, rather than page count alone. Record binding edge, hole setback and any tear-out margin in the artwork plan.

Page Travel
On a coil book, examine secured ends and whether normal handling lets the coil walk out. On a twin-loop book, check even closure and a seam that does not catch sheets. Turn through all sections and inspect punched edges for torn or incomplete holes. A cover proof without the final binding cannot establish this performance.

Manufacturing & Assembly
Inner-page artwork and pagination are approved before printing and collation. Cover conversion, binding and finishing follow the selected format.
Hole registration, coil ends, page turning and cover alignment.

Packaging & Protection
Provide clearance around the coil or wire binding. Arrange notebooks so exposed wire ends cannot catch adjacent covers or distort under carton pressure.
Record the unit pack, pack quantity, carton dimensions and label positions. Check a packed sample with the intended contents before approving the shipment arrangement.

What to Check
Hole registration, coil ends, page turning and cover alignment.
Workbooks, school notes and everyday writing.
Record the reference contents, inspection method and acceptance criteria with the approved sample.
Buyer Question
Are spiral and Wire-O interchangeable names?
No. Buyers sometimes group both as wire-bound, but they use different mechanisms. Identify continuous coil or twin-loop wire in the quotation and include a reference if terminology is uncertain.
