Presentation Formats
Pocket folder and presentation folder often describe the same printed sales folder in US trade usage. This page covers their shared construction: a scored cover with pockets retaining loose handouts. Important differences are pocket arrangement, expansion, card slots and stock, rather than a second product name. Identify the inserts and whether users refill the folder.

Pocket Layout
A4 handouts measure 210 x 297 mm; US Letter measures 215.9 x 279.4 mm. The folder requires clearance around them. One pocket and opposing pockets use different assembly and print layouts, while a gusset changes closed thickness. Put business-card slot size and orientation on the dieline, using the actual card as reference.

Artwork and Folds
Artwork continuing onto a turned-in pocket needs an orientation check on a folded proof. Heavy ink coverage or finishing at a score may reveal cracking. Inspect folds, glue flaps and pocket mouths with the document stack inserted. Distinguish flat and expanding constructions in the quotation even when their front dimensions match.

Manufacturing & Assembly
Artwork and cutting layouts define the panels, pockets and folds. Printed or converted components are assembled and checked for document fit before packing.
Pocket fit, fold cracking, cutting registration and glued joins where used.

Packaging & Protection
Pack folders flat with pockets and card slots unstrained. Keep fold lines aligned and use surface protection appropriate to the selected print finish.
Record the unit pack, pack quantity, carton dimensions and label positions. Check a packed sample with the intended contents before approving the shipment arrangement.

What to Check
Pocket fit, fold cracking, cutting registration and glued joins where used.
Welcome packs, sales literature and event handouts.
Record the reference contents, inspection method and acceptance criteria with the approved sample.
Buyer Question
Should both names create separate quotations?
Only when construction differs. Use both terms in one brief and separate line items by stock, pocket design, dimensions or decoration.
