Retrieval Systems
A filing folder separates records in drawers, shelves or larger files. The retrieval system determines tab position and label visibility. Top-tab, side-tab and untabbed folders are not interchangeable just because they hold the same paper. Describe the storage furniture and how staff search for records.

Capacity and Fasteners
Specify single folds or expansion scores according to document thickness. Loose sheets and prong-fastened sheets require different retention details. Fasteners must match punched documents without tearing the mounting area. Reinforced tabs and attachment points should be assessed against expected handling frequency, not just the appearance of a new sample.

Identification Proof
Apply a realistic label, including any barcode, and test visibility between neighbouring folders. Colour-coded assortments need a pack sequence. Inspect folds, cut edges and label legibility after loading, since the expanded shape changes how much of the tab remains visible. Keep the approved storage envelope with the artwork record.

Manufacturing & Assembly
Artwork and cutting layouts define the panels, pockets and folds. Printed or converted components are assembled and checked for document fit before packing.
Overall size, tab position, fold accuracy and printed identification.

Packaging & Protection
Align folders in manageable stacks with the tabs protected. Identify tab positions and colour sequences so packs can be distributed without resorting.
Record the unit pack, pack quantity, carton dimensions and label positions. Check a packed sample with the intended contents before approving the shipment arrangement.
