Reference formats describe the contents, not a guaranteed manufacturing range. Finished dimensions, material grades and tolerances are agreed against your drawing and sample.
Exercise and Composition
These terms overlap in school-writing searches but can carry different local expectations. A buyer may require a flexible stapled classroom book or a bound book with a stiff printed cover. This shared guide treats them as explicit construction choices rather than hiding UK or US assumptions behind separate near-identical pages.
Ruling Layout
Specify line spacing in mm, margin position, grid size, handwriting guides and subject layouts. A reference page is more reliable than broad terms such as wide ruled. Distinguish physical sheets from printed faces and state whether covers, endpapers or title pages count. Add numerical trim dimensions alongside any regional format name.
Classroom Inspection
Proof ruling at actual scale for visibility and spacing. Check trim against margins and count through the bound sample. Staples, sewing and adhesive attachment need different checks. Covers may include a name field, subject colour or timetable; approve those with the school or distributor and confirm assortment quantities before production.
Manufacturing & Assembly
Format, ruling, artwork and set contents are approved before converting or binding. Finished goods are checked against the agreed school or retail specification.
