Artwork Dimensions
A portfolio may carry mounted, layered or unusually thick work. A3 paper is 297 x 420 mm, but mounting extends beyond that rectangle. Record the largest finished outline and stack thickness, including interleaves. State whether contents are stored flat, carried upright or presented individually; each use changes retention and support requirements.

Support and Carrying
Rigid panels and flexible envelopes support work differently. Closures should retain it without pressing on delicate surfaces. Handles need suitable attachment for the filled weight. Check ties, pockets and dividers against the artwork they touch. Surface protection must be designed into the construction rather than inferred from the product name.

Portfolio Approval
Load mounted sheets or equivalent dummies, close and carry in the intended orientation. Look for sliding, crushed edges and surface marks. Check removal on a desk without dragging work across fittings. Transit packing should keep panels flat and prevent handles or closures imprinting the decorative finish.

Manufacturing & Assembly
Format, ruling, artwork and set contents are approved before converting or binding. Finished goods are checked against the agreed school or retail specification.
Artwork fit, retention, edges, joints and handle attachments where used.

Packaging & Protection
Support large panels against bending and protect zip tracks and handle anchors. Keep any internal dividers flat and avoid pressure on the artwork compartment.
Record the unit pack, pack quantity, carton dimensions and label positions. Check a packed sample with the intended contents before approving the shipment arrangement.

Buyer Question
Does A3 sizing guarantee a fit for mounted A3 work?
