Open document trays sized for desk filing and paper access.

Specifications
Specify usable internal dimensions rather than relying only on external measurements.

| Protection | Desk contact, lining, corner packing and set colour reference. |
| Interior | Usable length, width and depth defined from the intended paper format. |
| Body | Base and side construction matched to the contents and finish. |
| Arrangement | Single or coordinated tray arrangement confirmed with the sample. |
Reference formats describe the contents, not a guaranteed manufacturing range. Finished dimensions, material grades and tolerances are agreed against your drawing and sample.
Document Access
A letter tray needs room for the real document and enough access to grasp sheets without bending corners. Specify entry on a long or short side and the desk orientation. A4 and US Letter are different rectangles; the word letter alone cannot define the usable envelope. Include folders where they will be stored with loose papers.

Stacking Interface
For stacked trays, define contact points, separation and stability. A loaded upper tray must not obstruct the opening below. Feet, spacers and frames alter footprint and packing. Wrapped-board constructions need edge and lining checks where paper slides over the front lip, while stacking parts must register consistently between units.

Working Loads
Load representative folders and sheets, then assess access, flatness and sliding between tiers. Inspect desk-contact surfaces for exposed fittings. Protect unsupported corners in transit. When trays belong to a coordinated set, compare all pieces together rather than approving colours independently under different lighting.

Manufacturing & Assembly
Components are cut and formed to the approved dimensions, then wrapped or finished where applicable and assembled into the agreed desk format.
Interior fit, base flatness, joins, edges and stability under the agreed load.

Packaging & Protection
Confirm whether the selected construction permits nesting or stacking for shipment. Protect contact points and avoid loading unsupported tray edges.
Record the unit pack, pack quantity, carton dimensions and label positions. Check a packed sample with the intended contents before approving the shipment arrangement.

What to Check
Interior fit, base flatness, joins, edges and stability under the agreed load.
Office document sorting and coordinated desktop collections.
Record the reference contents, inspection method and acceptance criteria with the approved sample.
Buyer Question
Can outside footprint define document capacity?
No. Walls and wrapped edges consume space. Specify usable internal dimensions and the largest item that must fit.
